Battle of the Balls VIII took place in May 2012 and featured five teams: Abusement Park, Puckheads, Team Deepwell, Van Can Fans and Tuesday Night. Missing from tournament action for the first time in BOTB history was District Five, who was represented on Tuesday Night by several players.With every team playing each other once in the round robin, the top four advanced to the semifinals.
Tuesday Night ranked first, going undefeated while outscoring their opponents 24-5. Team Deepwell secured the second seed on the strength of a 5-2 victory over fifth-ranked Abusement Park in their last round robin game. With identical 1-2-1 records, Van Can Fans and Puckheads tied for third. The Puckheads, however, were bumped to fourth on the basis of goal differential.
Tuesday Night breezed into the final with a 6-0 shutout over the Puckheads, while the second semifinal required a shootout for the Van Can Fans to advance past Team Deepwell. Completing an undefeated tournament, Tuesday Night routed the Van Can Fans in an 11-2 win. Tuesday Night established a tournament record for most goals in a game, while Jeff Maas's 5 assists and 8 points were all-time BOTB highs.
Jeff Maas and Simon Neufeld (both of whom had previously competed for District Five) tied for the tournament lead in scoring with 18 points each and were named co-MVP's. Van Can Fans forward Evan deBoer, meanwhile, tied for third in scoring with 10 goals and 3 assists. Among goaltenders, Tuesday Night goaltender Brendan Pauls ranked first with a 1.67 GAA.
